Hello AltArtLI.Com members, welcome to another installment of Rant!, the official monthly newsletter for Alternative Arts of Long Island.
Richard Hoschler's Sacred Circuit
We would like to welcome all of our new members, artists and businesses and thank you for your support.

Alternative Arts of Long Island has officially been live now for a little over a month and the growth we have experienced in that time frame has been very exciting. The response we have been getting from artists and businesses has been better then we could have ever anticipated and we are looking forward to a very exciting future.

Since our last newsletter, a lot of new artists have taken their place in the Gallery offering a diverse collection of quality work that we are proud to showcase. We urge all of our members to check out the work of Richard Hoschler, Joyce Kubat, Jeff Pullen, and Damon Tommolino in the Art Studio, Steven Grafstein in the Dark Room, along with radiosonic and new material from theDEXorphan who can be found in the Music Studio. Hit the Feedback Boards and let these artists know what you think.

We recently have had the privilege to include in the Market the Spinnato Gallery, which currently is showcasing the work of Jeff Pullman. The Spinatto Gallery has been in operation for just about 2 years and showcases some of the most original and thought provoking work that Long Island has to offer. The Jeff Pullman showing is amazing and truly needs to be seen in person to get the full effect. For directions, gallery hours, and dates for the Jeff Pullen showing, see News below.

We would like to thank Lynn Spinatto for all of her support and believing in what we are doing.

Need to distribute your new demo on CD or presskit on DVD? Support local merchants like Forever Technologies LTD, who just came on board this month as well—welcome aboard!

The Doors of the 21st Century @ Jones Beach

The Doors have heretofore earned themselves a unique place among the anals of rock history. The Doors of the 21st Century are yet another among the long list of rock-n-roll reunions to emerge after 30 odd years of anonymity. What the Doors of 21C bring that most other apparitions of yesteryear don't is a seemingly endless array of classic tunes. Though their canon posses scarely 60 tunes, in any given 1 hr 15 min set you're bound to hear 3-7 tunes that will send you screaming into the night with unbridled excitement.

Ian Astbury knows his role + plays it for all it's worth. Never at teh forefront yet indubitoubly pronounced, his renditions of classics such as Break on Through to Touch Me virtually match the intensity of the former singer/legend, Jim Morrison.

It's a given that no one is like the man + equally known that it would be a travesty to attempt to recreate the nuances channelled from another time + place. The reason D21C is back is to celebrate the beauty that is the music of central instrumentalists, Ray Manzarek + guitarist extraordinaire, Robbie Krieger.

Their set served merely as a teast to entice us to uphold the mantle + to actively seek further live performances form this cement incarnation.

An evening that couldn't be beat at Jones Beach Arena, unless of course, we could've had the When the Music's Over rather thanthe predictably banal L.A. Woman. Never a dull moment throughout the 10 tune set. Should not be missed if afforded the opportunity in the near future.

Set List:

Peace Frog
Break on Through
Not to Touch the Earth
Alabama Song
Back Door Man
Touch Me
Five to One
L.A. Woman

Encores:

Roadhouse Blues
Light My Fire
