Hello, AltArtLI.Com members, welcome to another installment of Rant!, the offical monthly newsletter of Alternative Arts of Long Island. We would like to welcome all of our new members and artists. We would also like to thank all of our members from 2005 for all of their support and help in shaping Alternative Arts of Long Island.

Web Site   December of 2005 was one of our biggest months as far as visitors to the site, and it looks like January 2006 will also be a phenomenal month. We have been taking steps to increase our exposure on the web, but a lot of the credit has to go to our members for getting the word out about AltArtLI.Com. In our first seven months, we have reached close to a million hits.

We are very excited to see how much exposure the artists got in 2005. We would like to congratulate the following artists for reaching the top three Most Visited Artists (MVA) in 2005 for each category:   Most Visited Artists

The focus for Alternative Arts of Long Island for 2006 is to get involved with more shows in the New York area. We have been working out plans that will help gain exposure for artists at these shows while saving the artists money. If you are an artist and want to find out more, please contact us as soon as possible at (631) 428-7876 or info@altartli.com. If anyone has any information about upcoming shows, please email us at info@altartli.com.

Music by 50 Ways to Kill Me   Alternative Arts of Long Island would like to welcome 50 Ways to Kill Me to the Music Studio. 50 Ways to Kill Me (50WTKM) could be the most disturbing act we have on the site to date. 50WTKM was created by Jay Haley who takes a brave in depth look at various ways in which his life could be ended. Check out some of 50WTKM's musical gems, and while you sit back and listen to this symphony of destruction, be sure to check out some of the art of Jay Haley. Jay Haley has done numerous shows and tours and has releases all over the world and has a die hard following. In just a few short weeks, 50WTKM has become one of the most frequently visited musical acts on the site.

Alternative Arts of Long Island would like welcome Edouard Kamhi to the Art Studio. Edouard Kamhi is an orthopedic surgeon in Huntington, as well as a committed and dynamic artist. He has worked with watercolors, acrylics, and mixed media, and is currently exploring the possibilities of the digital medium. Mr. Kamhi has exhibited in several juried shows.   Art by Edouard Kamhi

Art by Edouard Kamhi   Kamhi observes, In both real and digital media, basic compositional elements such as line, value, color, shape, and balance are universally applicable. My digital works explore the themes of symmetry and fragmentation. They start out as original virtual paintings and are modified using various tools to come up with the final image. The images are printed on archival paper using archival pigment inks and are framed using all acid free conservation materials. They can be commissioned in larger formats to be printed on archival paper or canvas.
