Hello, AltArtLI.Com members, welcome to another installment of Rant!, the official monthly newsletter of Alternative Arts of Long Island.
We would like to welcome all of our new members and supporting businesses.

Alternative Arts of Long Island would like to officially welcome Damon Tommolino to the site.
Damon Tommolino's art originally came to the site last year as an artist sponsored by the Spinnato Gallery.
This year we are proud to show Damon's latest work as an independent artist and we invite everyone to check out this artists work.
Damon Tommolino was born and raised on Long Island, New York.
After high school, his first educational decision was to pursue a career in Architecture.
Although he enjoyed the architectural program at New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), architecture did not allow him the artistic freedom that he desired.
He then decided to drop out of NYIT and continue his college career in Finance at St. John's University.
After one accounting course and a noticeable growth in his own personal artwork, finance and economics did not hold his interest for long.
After much soul searching he made the decision to teach and finished his Undergraduate studies at St. John's University with a B.S. in Education.
Teaching on Long Island allowed him the time to develop his own style as an artist while completing an M.S. in Secondary Art Education at Queen's College.
He has taught for seven years now and could not be happier with the decision to educate children about creativity.
Teaching has allowed him to learn a great deal about color, line and movement that he now applies to his own artwork.
Up to this point in time, Damon Tommolino has been commissioned to do many paintings and murals in the private sector.
He has just recently made the decision to bring his work to the gallery arena.
Damon has shown his work through juried exhibitions at the Huntington Arts Council and the Smithtown Arts Council.
He currently is selling his work through the art dealership of Dominique Mauger in her Greenport (Galerie Nouvelle, 429 Main Street) and Manhattan (by appointment) locations.
Now, most of Damon's time is dedicated to building up his body of work in order to have solo shows in galleries throughout New York.
|
Damon Tommolino is also the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Chimera Artworks, Ltd. which is a management, marketing and educational organization formed by artists, for artists; dedicated to pursuing a progressive social agenda and expanding the reach and influence of fine arts.
Chimera Artworks' Social Vision is the bedrock upon which all else within Chimera is built.
Chimera shares its Social Vision with each of its member artists so as to sustain and empower that vision for presentation to the public in support of its mission.
Chimera Artworks is a multi-faceted organization of more than 30 artists designed to promoted the fine arts and interact with the world community on many levels.

Dining:
PLEASE HELP SUPPORT THE ROSE & SAGE CAFE
Due to economic pressures, The Rose & Sage Cafe will be closing their "Living Room" which was an area of the cafe set aside for events and was intended to be a place for local artists to show their work.
We here at Alternative Arts of Long Island wish everyone the best at the Rose & Sage Cafe and we appreciate the care & support the owners, Rich & Patty, have shown to local artists.
We are asking everyone involved with the site to please help support this local business. If you are in the Huntington area, stop in and grab a bite. The food prepared at the cafe is phenomenal. The Rose & Sage café also offers catering and ice sculpture.
